North Waziristan: Four security personnel were killed, and two others sustained injuries in a terrorist attack on a security checkpoint in Spinwam tehsil’s Darweshta area early Monday morning, sources reported.
The attack led to a fierce exchange of gunfire, with both sides using heavy and light weapons. In the ensuing clash, security forces managed to kill three militants. The wounded and martyred personnel were promptly airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Bannu.
Following the attack, security forces sealed off the area and launched a search operation to track down any remaining attackers. As of now, no official statement has been released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in the Bagh area of Khyber district, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) overnight from Sunday to Monday. According to an ISPR statement issued on Monday, the forces engaged the terrorists’ position and successfully killed 10 militants. A sanitization operation is underway to clear the area of any remaining threats.
